VUCC continues to support and celebrate Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance. Sixteen members and friends varnished sixteen shelves, which will be placed in each of the first 16 apartments.
Immokalee Fair Housing
To help them out of poverty, farmworker families need affordable apartments instead of expensive but old, unsafe, rusty trailers. The mission of the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA) is to eliminate substandard and overcrowded rental housing for farmworker families and other low-income residents in Immokalee FL, 90 miles from Venice. Pictured is an example of a decrepit, unsafe, overpriced trailer.

The IFHA has bought land, secured permits, built site infrastructure, and is now building the first of eight buildings, each with 16 units - a total of 128 mostly low income rental apartments. It has developed a plan to make the buildings self-supporting once occupied. This is possible because funding is from your donations and grants which makes them mortgage-free.
How does our church help?
Your donation through our VUCC IFHA fund raising helps build these new, affordable apartment homes. VUCC and the UCC Florida Conference have supported the IFHA almost since their beginning in December 2018 to build this community to help lift low income families out of poverty.
