Our Labyrinth

The journey of walking a labyrinth reminds us that there is a pattern to life’s journey

What is a Labyrinth?

Labyrinths have been around more than 5,000 years and are found in every culture, and walked by millions of people. The spiral shape of a labyrinth reflects a divine imprint called sacred geometry. This imprint is found everywhere in nature. Look at your own fingerprint. It is a labyrinth. The same spiral pattern exists in the Milky Way, tree rings, ripples on water and spider webs.

Walking a Labyrinth: Be Mindful

Stand tall at the beginning of the path and take several deep breaths. Visualize sitting down a suitcase full of stress.

RELAX. There are no decisions to make. Let go of perfection. It does not matter if your feet slightly escape the boundaries of the path.

Use the 3 R’s: Release stress before starting the inward journey; Receive with an open heart whatever comes to you when you stand in the center; Renew your faith and gather hope on the journey out.

Carry a simple prayer to say every step of the way. In the center, turn to the four corners of the compass and express gratitude.

Bring a question into the walk, stand still in the center and listen for direction.

Practice the 3 S’s: SEE and be wholly present; Savor your time in the center to connect with the air, flowers, clouds and your surroundings; Save and renew your commitment to align your life with love and enact change.

Carry a totem, like a seashell or smooth stone, to help maintain your focus.
